Mr. Smith joined the firm in 1996 and serves on the Executive Committee as the Managing Principal of the Private Client Practice. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, he works with select high net worth individuals and families in providing comprehensive wealth management services. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Smith served as an advanced planning consultant for GE Capital and has over 20 years of experience providing financial planning services. A magna cum laude graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in accounting, Mr. Smith is also a Certified Public Accountant, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Chartered Life Underwriter® and a Chartered Financial Consultant®. Mr. Smith is a member of the Financial Planning Association, the Estate Planning Council of Richmond Virginia, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Virginia Business Magazine has named Mr. Smith a Super CPA in the practice specialty of Personal Financial Planning every year since 2004. In addition to his professional focus on helping affluent investors realize their goals, he is also committed to fostering community growth. Mr. Smith serves as an Elder at Fellowship Community Church of Mechanicsville, is a Junior Achievement volunteer, and has coached for Upward basketball and soccer.
